This Week’s Important Events

As the month of March begins, so does the busy schedule of the Clinton Valley Chapter.

We have started the month out with a very successful weekend at Bass Pro Shops in Auburn Hills during their annual Spring Classic.  This is a great way for our chapter to reach out to local anglers and share the outstanding things we do for our coldwater resources.  While CVTU will be busy at the Expo on the 9th & 10th Bass Pro will be running their annual Next Generation Weekend.  This includes plenty of activities for the kids and even a trout pond to fish.  This is a great event to stop by at after the Expo.

This Wednesday at the Rochester Mills Brewery the Clinton River Watershed Council will host the Annual CRCCP River Rally Event.

Guest speaker Roger Greil, Manager of the Aquatic Research Lab at LSSU will be speaking about the Atlantic Salmon program.  CRWC Stream Ecologist, Jeremy Geist, will lead a presentation on local conservation efforts planned for this year.  The CVTU Conservation Chairman, Mark Johnston, will also update everyone on the upcoming Phase II Embrace-A-Stream Project.

Tickets for this event are only $15.00 and included a burger and a “beverage”.  Pre-registration is required with the Clinton River Watershed Council.

Saturday morning at 9:00AM (March 9th) marks the official door opening of the 2013 Midwest Fly Fishing Expo.    Why is this event special?  Aside from the hundreds of fly tyers, fly shops, guides and artists that will be present just look at the line up of speakers…  A.K. Best, Ed Engle, Bob Clouser only to name a few.  We are talking about fly fishing royality here.  These are THE GUYS in the industry.  Just having a chance to watch A.K. Best tie a fly, hear Ed Engle speak or meet Mr. Clouser himself is worth your $10.00 entrance fee.

As usual, the Clinton Valley Chapter will be at the Expo.  We will be talking to new potential members, selling our Bamboo Rod Raffle Tickets and tickets to our Annual Conservation Banquet.  This is yet another outstanding opportunity for our chapter to be proud of all we have accomplished in recent years and share that accomplishment with the public.
