Annual Paint Creek Clean-Up

On Saturday, September 21, 2013 the Clinton Valley Chapter will be at the Clarkston and Kern Road crossing on Paint Creek to work on our annual river clean-up project.  This marks over five years that our chapter has worked hard to maintain this very important section of the creek.

spring_cleanAnyone that has visited the Clarkston and Kern Road section of Paint Creek has noticed the heavy use this area receives from local residents.  Sadly some of those that visit the creek tend to leave a little trash behind from every visit.  Add up all this trash and you get between seven to ten large bags carried out by our chapter members each fall.

Why is this section of the creek so important to our chapter?  First, it is the site of a huge erosion control project that took place in 2008 in which CVTU partnered with other TU chapters, the Clinton River Watershed Council and the Oakland County Road Commission.  Secondly, this is the location of Rudd’s Mill (a historic location along Paint Creek which at one time was home to over seven different builds and a very successful mill).

Mark River CleanupSo come and join our Conservation Chair, Mark Johnston, for a great morning of giving a little back to the creek that provides us all so many hours of recreational enjoyment!

Please contact Mark via email if you are planning on lending a helping hand for this outstanding chapter event.
