In 2008 Clinton Valley Trout Unlimited members assisted with an erosion control project on Paint Creek at the Clarkston and Kern Rd crossing. This project was lead by the Clinton River Watershed Council. Assistance was given by the Oakland County Road Commission and several local Trout Unlimited Chapters, including CVTU.
Due to the steep riparian banks at the Clarkston/Kern crossing stormwater runoff would pour down into the creek carrying with it an overload of sediment. This site, without the proper erosion control, would have caused the substrate to fill in with fine sediment cover prime spawning gravel.
Here are some of the photos showing the extensive work done to stabilize the bank and protect this section of Paint Creek.
